Passion Fashion
Lambchops (that's code for I'm in a tender loving mood)....we had so much fun at the City of Eugene Fashion Show. Thanks powers that be, it was really fun. There's Laurel & Jamie, our on site stylists and personal shoppers who helped all our models get ready (which consisted mostly of proffering glasses of champagne and telling them how awesome they looked)....but seriously, these two really brought their A game.
And then some of our brave shopgirls took to the runway.....Deidre went flamenco, wearing Navone and Iron Oxide jewelry with flowers in her hair!
Chelsea rocking some Johnny Was and this awesome Bolivian ceremonial jacket (that you must be uber tiny to wear, but it's really a thing of beauty )....a little bit of lace, a little bit of fringe.....
And our little flowerchild Laura with her feverfew crown and sweet smile all wrapped up in her Pendleton blanket. Hope we get some more good photos to show you.

Navone Jewelry at Passionflower
You know there's a lot of independent jewelry makers out there in the
world. And people want to sell it to me all the time at Passionflower.
And I say no a lot. There's a lot of reasons jewelry doesn't work for the store. Sometimes it seems too much like something we already have and
sometimes it's just wrong for us and sometimes the price point is just
way too high and sometimes I've spent all my allocated dollars and
sometimes I'm just too busy to give it the time it deserves. And then,
every now and then, there's a line that really stands out. Hasn't
happened in a while until Laurel said to me, "You might want to check
out my friend Rachel Dean's jewelry. She lives in Bend and I think it
would be a good fit for us." "Um, yes OK, I will". And then Rachel
sent me a lot of photos (all priced) and I could tell, not only did she
have something original and fabulous to sell, she also had it together
as a business person. And I need both those things to make it work here
at Passionflower. So I said YES Please!
And Rachel came over from Bend
and we picked a really fun selection. And now she's a house staple.
Her work definitely has a relaxed, boho vibe but add good design and
color sense and it really sings. It's mostly brass, beadwork, and gemstones but she adds thread and leather sometimes too. And since Rachel seems like the
energizer bunny when it comes to production, we thought it would be
really fun to have a trunk show so you can see the huge, vast array of
her work. Please join us Thursday November 20th. We're open until 7 and
will be serving a little bubbly and playing some lovely tunes.
Or should partying on a Thursday evening prove too much for you, there's always our online jewelry store!

The One and Only Navone Jewelry
I'm working on doing some promo pieces for some fall trunk shows we have
happening. Which basically means I'm looking for cool images. Found
this one from our amazing new jeweler Rachel Dean with Navone Jewelry in
Bend. I feel so lucky to have her work at the store. It's a great fit
and it doesn't duplicate work we already have. In short, she's an
original! Stay tuned for a Navone trunk show in November. More
beautiful jewelry than you can imagine.
And while we're talking jewelry, do you think jewelry can bring you supernatural powers? Well if we lived in the middle ages or studied ayurveda we might. And I have done neither of those things but I do think wearing jewelry is magical. I wore one of Rachel's rings all through my Oaxaca trip and I swear it made me more creatively inclined.

I think the Rings are my Favorite
Sometimes a girl gets lucky. Like when your fabulous new employee tells you she has a friend who is a jeweler in Bend and said friend does actually send pics of lots and lots and lots of beautiful jewelry and it is all priced in a professional way and it's kind of like nothing you've seen before....but it is kind of like things you've seen before so it is that perfect combination of the familiar and unfamiliar.
The hammered metal makes me think of Ancient Greece and the beading and tassles and wirework just take it to some other place. Like maybe some beachside bar on an island in the Aegean.
Can you tell I'm a little excited about this new jewelery line Navone that we're carrying?
And it looks pretty fabulous with these African beaded pieces from our friend on Vashon Island Sandrhyme.
Love carrying so much local jewelry. There's a lot of talent out there.
