Good to be Back

The blog really hasn't been getting too much of my juice lately. It's been a busy and fruitful time....a wedding or two, a trip to LA to buy clothes for the store (and reconnect with an old high school friend ), our summer reset at Passionflower, art classes, gardening, a celebration or two.
But now the blog is calling to me again and I have lots to show. Stay tuned.

"Hello little baby pears! I hope you didn't get pelted too hard by the rain last night. You're going to be so tasty in a few months. ..I am really looking forward to eating you. Plus I think I will cut you up into thin slices and dry you and dip you in chocolate. You're going to be so yummy. In the meantime is there anything I can do for you?" Talking to your food probably doesn't make it taste better but you never know.

Homage a Susan Goodwin

The Susan Goodwin Trunk Show we had last month went something like this. Susan, who is now living in California, flew into town. She was all dressed in white and white glasses too.

She charmed my charming staff.

And she laid down some very beautiful jewelry. Once again, I was in awe of just how awesome a designer she is. And how well she knows women and what makes us beautiful.
And it is endlessly inspiring to see how Susan continues to create new. This collection had this super clean edge (kind of all white feeling) to it with vermeil, moonstone, disc pearls and clear rock crystal. (working on getting you some photos)

We spent a half a day or so basking in beauty.

And then it was over......which is always a little sad and wistful but satisfying for me.

Wedded Bliss

I know it's not all a bed of roses but these happy couples look like they got off to a great start.

If you're getting married or know someone who is - we can help.... we do wedding flowers, we have a bridal registry, and you can find some great jewelry. But if you need help with other wedding resources, we've joined up with Moxie events on their site Eugene Wedding Planning which is a great online resource for brides. Check it out here. And go here to see more pics of some of our wedding work.

Inspiration is a Two Way Street

These sweet little porcelain, japanese tea bowls that fit just right into the hand have been a big hit at the shop this year......

And so we decided to do a little impromptu photo styling. Well actually it was more like a customer put this wedding gift together with the bowls and glassware and a little recipe box. We loved her styling so much we wanted to commit the look to memory. I have some customers with very interesting and personal aesthetics. It has been a pleasure to watch them shop over the years. On more than one occassion they have inspired me to put a whole new look together.
And this was one of those times.

Things I Love

Well it's so shabby that it's not chic....just call this post the opposite of trendspotting....but even though I wouldn't want to sit here, or snuggle up and read a book, or pet my cat, I could stare at this burlap chair for hours.....it's the refined and the rustic living side by side that works for me.

There's a lot to be said for slowing down and doing nothing more than basking in the pure pleasure of just looking at something. I guess that's one thing I'm trying to make happen at the store.
